In tonight’s comic adventure: Miss Waxie explains her month long absence from her beloved comic, finally sharing that her condition has been changed and a new course of treatment has been implemented. Fact is, at least so it seems now, Miss Waxie doesn’t have lupus or rheumatoid arthritis or CIDP or most of the autoimmune illnesses she’s been treated for. (You may remember the beginning of this story from a month ago.) She has a rare genetic condition, muckle wells (part of the cyropyrin associated periodic syndromes) and with this new diagnosis comes new treatments – both in the form of better fitting drugs and respect from doctors!
More dramatic than comedic? Maybe today. But the story behind living 23 years with a disease that’s been present since birth? Comic for sure.
Worry not dear readers, this comic is back. I hope you come back to read it, too.

In Tonight’s Comic Adventure: Successfully recooperating from her cataracts surgery, Miss Waxie once again thinks on just how weird it is to have and old lady surgery at the tender age of 23 – even if they were caused by prednisone. Sure, the side effect was on the table when pred was brought up for the UCTD/ lupus/ rheumatoid arthritis deal, but getting cataracts so soon is like finishing only half of your box of Lucky Charms before finding the prize buried inside. …Well, gluten free Lucky Charms in Miss Waxie’s, book.

In Tonight’s Comic Adventure: Miss Waxie ponders the importance of sleep in the body riddled rheumatoid arthritis, cidp, lupus, and the like while weighing it against just how much fatigue steals away from one’s over all life. While considering if she is in fact self-punishing her body for demanding so much in bed time by purposely setting up 9AM appointments for herself, she realizes it’s entirely possible she’s playing into her diseases’ master plan, attacking her body from the outside in!!!!
